Green Sheffield
In 2004 while working as a volunteer at
Sheffield Galleries and
Museums Trust, I was asked to look into the claims that Sheffield is the 'greenest
city' in Britain. This led to a general study of the land cover in and
around the Sheffield MDC which has been written up in a couple of papers
for the Sorby Natural History Society.
The society studies the natural history of the Sheffield area and
publishes an an annual journal, the Sorby Record. Details are available
on their web site.
The first paper, published in the 2005 journal, is a collection of maps
documenting the land cover and other data for the Sorby 'recording' area around Sheffield. A copy is
available here
as a 8.1mb pdf - note the size!!! be aware that it may take
some time to open or download.
The second paper summarises the 'Green Sheffield' investigation and has
been published as a supplement to the 2006 journal. A copy is
available here
as a 958kb pdf.
